There have already been several shows and specials featuring networks going behind-the-scenes at pro- and college-football camps, but The Mtn. – MountainWest Sports Network will take a rare look at officials as they undergo their own version of training camp.

Behind the Stripes will debut on the regional sports network Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. MT. Hosted by Bill Doleman with Mountain West Conference coordinator of football officials Ken Rivera, the special looks at the College Football Officials West meetings in Dallas, where officials from the Mountain West, Conference USA, the Big 12 Conference and the Western Athletic Conference congregated.

“Many fans think this is a hobby for the officials, and that is simply not the case,” network anchor Doleman said. “These officials come from all walks of life and from all parts of the country and they have a tough job to do. First of all, the rule book isn’t exactly thin, and what’s in it is updated and changed annually. Secondly, the amount of scrutiny and oversight they’re under is as intense as any job out there. We were given unprecedented access to the clinic, and we’re grateful for being allowed the opportunity to capture the essence of the meetings. I think our show will provide some insight into their preparation for the season and the level of accountability and integrity they’re required to meet. That alone is eye-opening and worth watching.”
