Henry Wofford has joined Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s on-air team as an anchor/reporter for SportsNet Central, a live 30-minute sports news show that airs at 6:00 p.m., 10:30 p.m., and midnight.

“Henry’s knowledge and love of Northern California sports will make him a great addition to our strong on-air team,” says Chris Olivere, news director for Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. “ We are delighted to welcome him back to the Bay Area where he began his sports reporting career as a San Jose State student doing play-by-play for the Spartans’ baseball and basketball teams for the school’s radio station. I am confident that viewers will appreciate his work and the enthusiasm that he will bring to the network.”

Born and raised in Stockton, CA, Wofford’s journey home has taken him from WTHR (NBC) in Indianapolis as a sports anchor/reporter for the last five years and WZZM (ABC) in Grand Rapids, MI as a sports director and anchor from 2003-2005. His other sports anchor experience includes KOLO (ABC) in Reno, NV from 2000-2002, as well as his radio work, which includes KLIV 1590 in San Jose, CA as an anchor and writer and KSJS 90.5, San Jose State University’s campus radio station, as a news director, anchor, and sports announcer.

Wofford’s broadcasting accolades includes the Society of Professional Journalists first place awards in sports reporting in and in-depth reporting in 2008, and Michigan Associated Press awards for Best Sportscast and Best Reporter for a feature entitled “13 On Your Sidelines,” in 2003.

A graduate of Stockton’s Edison High School, Wofford received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Davis, and a Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from San Jose State University. He is a member of the National Black Journalists Association and the Radio Television News Directors Association. Wofford and his wife Yasmin are the parents of two children, Emet and Cyrus.
