NAB Preview: Harris To Highlight Predator II-GX Monitoring Solution

In addition to several new releases, Harris will feature four of its established products — the Predator II-GX, Inscriber G5 graphics system, Inscriber G-Flow graphics system, and X50 converter/synchronizer.

A complete HD control and monitoring solution at reasonable price point, the Predator II-GX is available in a 1RU or 2RU frame, suited to outside-broadcast vans or production centers that require a flexible, scalable architecture. It allows expansion of inputs to match growing monitoring needs, including optional computer-graphic input cards, which allow DVI-I or VGA sources to be monitored alongside video. Featuring low system latency and easy reconfigurability, the Predator II-GX also offers built-in autosensing support for multiple-input video and audio standards, embedded and discrete audio monitoring, SNMP-based alarms, and aspect-ratio management.

The Inscriber G5 is a powerful yet affordable broadcast-graphics system easily incorporated into any automated, live-sports-broadcast environment via the industry-standard Intelligent Interface, MOS protocols, or the new Harris Direct Control 2 interface. The 3RU G5 delivers 2D and 3D real-time graphics on a single channel in SD or HD, as well as 3D scene-playback capability.

Also at the booth will be the Inscriber G-Flow, a toolkit of applications that enable broadcasters to integrate complex graphics into popular NLE editing platforms. With Inscriber G-Flow, graphics designed for live broadcasts can be reused quickly and easily in the broadcaster’s preferred NLE environment.

The X50 converter/synchronizer is a cost-effective, single-channel platform that delivers the solid quality and functionality of Harris 1RU processors. The X50 includes integrated color correction as standard and optional 3-Gbps and fiber-optic I/O — in an affordable, energy-efficient package. Other features include up/down/cross-conversion, eight analog and four AES inputs and outputs, 16 channels of embedded audio processing, control and monitoring via a built-in Web server, support for AFD, and two fully controllable aspect-ratio converters. The X50 processor can be incorporated easily into the workflow of any broadcast environment — from small stations and OB vans to production studios and networks.
