Aspera Demos New Products, Functions, App

At the NAB Show, Aspera (Booth SL9620) is showcasing a new product and two significant product enhancements that enable real-time collaboration, big data sharing, and content distribution on a global scale. The company is also previewing an Android transfer app that is expected to ship later this year and follows the 2010 release of the Aspera Mobile Uploader for the iPhone and iPad.

Sync 1.0
Aspera Sync 1.0 is a new multidirectional file-replication and synchronization software engine for today’s largest file stores, supporting millions of individual files and the largest file sizes. It is designed to overcome the bottlenecks of conventional synchronization tools and scale up for maximum-speed replication and synchronization over WANs. It can be configured to run continuously for real-time synchronization or trigger replications manually or automatically to synchronize files of any type, format, or size. It is scheduled to ship on May 31.

fasp V 2.7
The next generation of Aspera’s high-speed file-transfer suite, fasp v 2.7, adds new functionality across Aspera’s product line by supporting transfers of unlimited data sizes. IT includes innovations in the fasp transport for high performance on hypervisor virtual machine environments.

Console 1.5
Aspera Console 1.5 delivers centralized configuration, tracking, reporting, and automation of Aspera transfers. It introduces powerful new transfer-reporting capabilities for project-specific reporting and is designed for handling large-scale transfer history, with quicker responsiveness for very large transfer databases (1 million records) and faster file-search speed.

All Aspera solutions are powered by fasp technology, the next-generation transport for moving file-based data of unlimited scale over IP networks at any distance, with maximum speed, predictability, and security.

fasp-AIR
Currently available for the iPhone and iPad with an Adroid release scheduled for later this year, the fasp-AIR mobile platform allows Aspera customers to achieve high-speed file transfers over wireless networks straight from their handheld devices. Particularly useful to media professionals, the mobile-transport platform enables remote news professionals and contributors with high-speed, predictable file transfer to and from mobile devices.

Over typical 3G and 4G networks, fasp-AIR performance is on average three times faster than regular TCP and fully utilizes available channel capacity, independent of the high packet loss associated with wireless links. Mobile transfers are fully interoperable with the Aspera Connect Server and Aspera On-demand and manageable through the Aspera Console.
