Terra, the largest Latin American digital media company, with a monthly audience of 81 million people, has chosen deltatre to provide digital media services for Terra’s coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“Our mission is to offer the greatest digital experience to our consumers.  And surely London 2012 will be a fabulous opportunity, for it will be the most connected Olympic Games which have ever happened. We will go beyond,” said Fernando Madeira, Terra’s CEO. “Being a global company, Terra always seeks the best all over the world, as potential partners. We have appointed deltatre, as they have proven themselves to be a world leading sports digital media services provider. Terra is using deltatre’s digital media expertise to support our operations throughout all of Latin America.  We will use deltatre’s innovative DIVA video platform, their Olympic Results Platform, and other Olympic services. Terra viewers will have a ground-breaking Olympic experience thanks to deltatre’s work for Terra.”

“When I first learned of Terra’s plans to deliver an all-encompassing digital media experience for London 2012 I was impressed with their foresight and vision,” said Ciaran Quinn, Director at deltatre.

“Terra understands its consumers and knows how to carry on a plan to offer fans what they have always dreamed of: interactive Olympic Games, webcasted live, in high definition, in several channels simultaneously. We are extremely proud to be working with Terra and help them to deliver great services in Latin America and USA.  With an average monthly audience of 81 million people, in a territory encompassing 18 countries, they are in a unique position to show the world how to manage such a high profile event across purely digital platforms.”

For Terra’s coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games deltatre will provide a highly innovative broadband solution (DIVA) that will allow users to watch sport competitions online in high definition with no buffering thanks to Microsoft’s Smooth Streaming and Silverlight technologies – while interacting with live competition data. In addition, deltatre will provide online and mobile results services by giving users access to non-stop content including live results updates, medal counts, standings, and event schedules.
