Colombia-based Telecinco successfully completed transmission of the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup thanks in part to Adtec Digital’s EN-81 multi-CODEC encoder, a part of the flyaway solution supplied by Antenna Technologies Communications, Inc. (ATCi).

“Not only is Adtec Digital bringing our industry the right technology at the right time, they have exceeded my expectations with customer service,” explains Gary Hatch, CEO of ATCi. “They understand that broadcasting is not about tomorrow, it’s about ‘now,’ and the guys really know how to get things done and make things happen. Change is a discipline they understand, and they are ready and set, not tomorrow, but today.”

A key element of the EN-81 and its success is its ability to encode sixteen channels of phase aligned audio.  Integrating sixteen channels of audio enables broadcasters to deliver many stereo and multichannel surround sound audio services within the encoder and without the need for external audio devices. Built on the proven Adtec compression platform, the EN-81 offers both MPEG 2 and AVC (MPEG 4) 3D, 2D-HD and SD frame sizes with both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 chroma sampling.

The Adtec EN-80/81 DSNG contribution encoder/modulator is designed specifically for Tier 1 Satellite, ASI/Fiber and IP contribution, and DSNG applications.  This, Adtec’s fifth generation encoder, comes with an impressive list of standard features and a wide range of options, allowing minimal initial investment and an upgrade path for future applications.

With temporal and spatial filtering for standard definition, and advanced motion compensated temporal filtering for high definition, the EN-8x series delivers excellent quality video.  Audio encoding highlights include up to eight (8) pairs of audio encoding and advanced audio mapping capabilities.

Designed for mobility and durability, all Adtec EN Series sport a front panel design with an expanded menu system and additional key pad options, making configuration quick and easy. Additional methods of control and configuration are available via Adtec’s on-board web-based application and SNMP.
