Philly, Chicago, Bay Area Comcast SportsNets Unveil College, High School Football Slates

Several Comcast SportsNets laid out their programming plans for the upcoming college and high-school football seasons this week, including CSN Philadelphia and The Comcast Network, CSN Chicago, and The Bay Area’s Comcast Hometown Network.

In Philadelphia Comcast SportsNet, together with The Comcast Network, will air 32 NCAA and eight local high school football games, plus weekly college football shows. The 2012 schedule features NCAA coverage of Villanova, Penn, Delaware and Widener, plus local high school favorites including Malvern Prep, Upper Darby, Haddonfield, Council Rock South and George Washington. CSNPhilly.com will also feature stories on local college football, plus CSNPhilly.com contributor Michael Bradley will cover top collegiate stories in “Collegiate Corner.”

Meanwhile CSN Chicago’s 17-game 2012 college football schedule is highlighted by standout local match-ups featuring pre-season, nationally-ranked Illinois State of the Missouri Valley Conference, 2011 Mid-American Conference champion/2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl winner Northern Illinois, as well as match-ups from Conference USA and the SEC, along with weekly college coaches shows from Notre Dame and Northwestern (Inside Notre Dame Football with Brian Kelly and Northwestern Football: The Pat Fitzgerald Show) On Saturday, October 13 at 2:30 PM, Northern Illinois Huskies fans will be in for a treat as Comcast SportsNet will carry the school’s annual “Homecoming Game” as they take on MAC rival Buffalo.

The Comacast Hometown Network, which covers Northern and Central California, will televise 21 high school football games this season, and will add live contests for the first time. An additional 12 games will also have a five-minute video highlights package, featuring all scoring plays, available via Xfinity On Demand. In its fourth year of covering prep football, CHN’s games will continue to appear under the banner of “Xfinity High School Sports,” and will be available on Channel 104 to Comcast digital cable customers. The telecasts kick off on Saturday, August 25th at 7:00 p.m. with Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland hosting Las Lomas High School.
