Haivision will demonstrate the company’s range of Internet streaming and enterprise IP video distribution solutions at Streaming Media Europe, enabling the delivery of rich media to global audiences. Making their debut at the show are the KulaByte 4.0 live H.264 encoder/transcoder for Linux and HyperStream, Haivision’s Internet media delivery service, which brings together the power of cloud-based transcoding on the Amazon EC2, and easy connectivity to Akamai SOLA Media Solutions for global delivery, security, and analytics.
“Haivision is featuring several significant advancements at this year’s Streaming Media Europe show aimed at optimizing Internet streaming as well as simplifying the entire process in order to allow our customers to become Internet broadcasters of extremely high quality ABR video,” says Peter Maag, chief marketing officer, Haivision. “We will be featuring KulaByte 4.0, which is now on Linux, as well as HyperStream Live, our SaaS and managed-service that takes advantage of our newly optimized KulaByte transcoder software, and simplifies cloud and CDN services for everyone. Both of these solutions are key developments for Haivision customers as they provide unparalleled quality and highly streamlined processes in order to deliver media experiences on mobile platforms.”
Haivision’s software-based, Internet encoder/transcoder for adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming, is now available on Linux — bringing a 30% performance improvement, a new user interface, and cost reductions when deployed in cloud computing environments such as Amazon’s EC2. KulaByte 4.0 uniquely matches exceptional HD quality with transport technologies designed to maximize streams delivered to the Internet. These technologies include constant bit rate (CBR) and Dynamic Stream Shaping (DSS), assuring optimal and dynamic usage of available uplink bandwidth.
Haivision’s global streaming platform automates the power of KulaByte cloud transcoding and CDN connectivity so that content providers can easily deliver media to global audiences with a simplified process by moving workflows to the cloud.

With Chris Gottschalk, director of technology, Haivision
Video conferencing, distance learning, and telepresence systems have long been deployed on private networks, connecting corporate or university conference rooms or lecture halls. Now, thanks to new transcoding technology, these video sources can easily be repurposed for streaming to a worldwide Internet audience. This session will discuss technical and strategic concerns surrounding bridging the two types of systems to maximize the value of content for increased communications and collaboration within an organization.
