2013 BCS National Championship Game

Last night’s BCS National Championship Game showdown between Notre Dame and Alabama was one of the most highly-anticipated college sporting events in recent memory, and ESPN gave it the technological treatment it deserved.

The “Worldwide Leader” had three productions at the game with separate HD and 3D production teams and College GameDay all with their own crews. The network deployed 39 cameras, including five for its College GameDay set and nine 3D cameras. Cameras are positioned on each sideline and each goal line, so every boundary is covered. There were also four slo-mo cameras, including one handheld and the aerial cable camera system Spidercam.

Sports Video Group was on-site in Miami to capture the behind-the-scenes stories and images inside Sun Life Stadium. Click through the images below to check out some of the faces and equipment that made Monday night’s broadcast possible.
