beIN SPORT Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

With its television debut on Aug. 15, 2012, beIN SPORT, became one of America’s fastest-growing international sports networks, offering fans an action-packed new sports network dedicated to exclusive coverage of top-flight international games and competitions with two networks.

Both beIN SPORT and beIN SPORT en Español amassed and televised thousands of hours of exclusive marquee sports events that included some of the year’s top competitions. From club and international soccer, which included FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches where beIN SPORT is the exclusive home to the world’s great soccer athletes including Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar; to Million Dollar horse racing from Dubai, cycling and motorsports, like the FIM Superbike Championships, all of these accomplishments are firsts for a brand new sports network.

The networks originate from a state-of-the-art HD studio in Miami where hours of original and exclusive live news, magazine, and analysis programs anchored by The Locker Room, and The Express are becoming established hits and anchor shows.

Consumer demand for these sports was recognized by nearly every major distributor including DIRECTV, Comcast, DISH, Time Warner Cable and Verizon, Bright House Networks, Advanced Cable, Advanced Broadband, and Liberty Cable, among others who launched the channels in less than eight months of going live.

beIN SPORT also launched beIN SPORT Play, a comprehensive HD streaming service matching authenticated subscribers with full online access to beIN SPORT and beIN SPORT en Español, along with live overflow matches. The broadband offering is being enjoyed by Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks subscribers.

“This network has quickly become a primary destination for the best international live and exclusive sports programming,” says Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Chairman of beIN SPORT. “During the past year, we have succeeded beyond anyone’s expectations for distribution and unique relationships with powerful sports entities. In year two, I know we will continue to surprise, and exceed our fans expectations of our first class networks.”

Among its many first-year accomplishments was the network reaching the highest rankings of social media engagement (SocialGuide’s Twitter TV Rankings for the week of June 7) for its coverage of FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. beIN SPORT also held the rankings’ fifth and ninth positions, according to the leading Twitter TV measurement platform.
