OklahomaLogo“What a tremendous honor for our entire staff,” says Brandon Meier, Assistant Athletic Director, Broadcast Relations at the University of Oklahoma. “We have an amazing team of producers, directors, editors, engineers, and motion graphic designers. This award is a credit to their hard work, innovation and drive to produce the highest quality content for all of our platforms.”

The Technology Leadership Award is presented to the university athletic department that meets the outlined criteria of commitment to the investment in and execution of broadcast and video infrastructure and technologies.

“Developing the Institutional Network concept we envisioned nearly seven years ago required a highly talented, passionate, and committed staff,” says Joe Castiglione, Director of Athletics at the University of Oklahoma. “Being honored with the 2014 SVG/NACDA Technology Leadership Award allows others to know about our outstanding staff led by Brandon Meier.”

OU’s SoonerVision is one of the top video production operations in the industry. Centered in a pair of control rooms in the bowels of Gaylord Family – Memorial Coliseum, SoonerVision produces well over 200 live events annually, which are aired on Fox Sports Oklahoma, regional Sooner Sports Network affiliates, All-Access area of SoonerSports.com, and Oklahoma Cox channels.

Oklahoma’s commitment to video production and education is unrivaled as SoonerVision’s impressive crew features 17 full-time administrators and more than 100 students.

“When I came to OU seven years ago Joe Castiglione had a vision that went well beyond programming and operating our big screens,” says Meier. “Under his leadership, we have taken Television, Digital, Big Screens and Post Production to a whole new level.”

In 2011, the university invested nearly $2.5 million to boost its live-video offerings through a new control room, two Grass Valley Kayenne switchers, six new Sony cameras (three HD1400Rs and three robotics), a telestrator, and an EVS XT3.

“The University of Oklahoma was a leader back in the 1950’s with the development of the first “Coaches Shows” and continues to position itself to reach more of our fans globally with the technology enhancements and multi-media productions,” says Castiglione. “We’re grateful to all who chose to recognize our wonderful staff.”
