Ball State Sports Link To Produce Multimedia Coverage For The 96th PGA Championship

Ball State Sports Link, the immersive learning experience for digital sports production, will play a role in Turner Sports comprehensive multimedia coverage of the 96th PGA Championship from Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, K.Y.

BallStateSportsLinkBall State Sports Link will replicate the digital and social media operations from its involvement the last four years with NCAA March Madness Live during the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship for the 2014 PGA Championship.

A team of students in Sports Link, and program director Chris Taylor, will edit and produce real-time video highlights from all four rounds for PGA.com’s award-winning digital franchise PGA Championship Live.

The real-time video highlights will also be available in a social leaderboard, which allows fans to see video highlights and follow social conversation around each hole.

PGA.com, managed by Turner Sports, will offer extensive coverage of the event including live streaming via PGA Championship Live, with multiple live video streams allowing fans to follow marquee groups, broadcast coverage and par-3 coverage.

PGA Championship Live offers fans a new and improved design including a larger screen devoted to video and a responsive design, which allows for the best display across a wide variety of devices. PGA Championship Live is available on all platforms, including desktop, mobile web and iOS and Android tablets and smartphones.

In 2013, Ball State opened its new Digital Sports Production center in the Ball Communications building. The 1,500-sq. ft. facility was modeled after the Turner Sports Digital Event Operations Center.

The center allows students to get experience using the same workflows and tools for social monitoring and digital programming as those used at the Turner Studios facility in Atlanta — a one-of-a-kind live operations center for Turner Sports produced digital products.
