Duke University to Add Daktronics Display at Wallace Wade Stadium

Duke University has partnered with Daktronics to design, manufacture and install a state-of-the-art LED video display at Wallace Wade Stadium, the home of Blue Devils’ football in Durham, North Carolina. The new display – one of the first 13HD video displays in college football – will be installed and operational to entertain Blue Devil fans for the 2015 football season.

A new video display will debut at Duke's Wallace Wade Stadium in 2015.

“Providing our fans with the best possible in-house game experience is a priority for our planning in the new Wallace Wade Stadium,” said Mike Cragg, Duke’s Deputy Director of Athletics for Operations. “We are thrilled that we found a dynamic and state-of-the-art video board solution with our long-time partners, Daktronics. Duke Football has never looked better and now it will be seen in true 1080HD and bigger than ever before.”

The display will measure approximately 42 feet high by 76 feet wide and feature a 13HD pixel layout. It will provide brightness to cut through the sun in the outdoor environment, excellent image clarity and contrast, wide angle visibility, and multiple levels of protection from the elements.

The display features the ability to cater to fan’s expectations by highlighting live video and instant replays. It can also feed the need for additional statistics and standard scoring information by being divided into multiple sections to show a variety of content and graphics. This also provides additional space for revenue-generating sponsorships and advertisements.

“We are excited to be part of the Wallace Wade Stadium renovation,” said Corey Williams, Daktronics sales representative. “The new 13HD video display is going to enhance the game-day experience for the Blue Devils’ fans and place their new scoreboard among the most technologically advanced in the collegiate ranks. Duke University has been a great partner for many years and we’re grateful for this opportunity to build upon that partnership with this installation.”

Wallace Wade Stadium’s current video board display, installed prior to the 2010 football season, will be divided and installed in Koskinen Stadium, home to Duke’s men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s soccer programs, and Morris Williams Track & Field Stadium, which is currently under construction.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.

University of Central Oklahoma to Bolster Stadium Atmosphere With Daktronics
Daktronics has also partnered with the University of Central Oklahoma to upgrade their football stadium with a new LED display system and also install a state-of-the-art audio system.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Daktronics on the installation of a new video board system in Wantland Stadium. The dynamic quality of Daktronics will provide a level of clarity that will be unmistakable to fans this fall,” said Athletic Director Joe Muller. “We look forward to unveiling this new system that will enhance the game-day experience for UCO student-athletes, Broncho fans, Edmond high school football fans and the Edmond community for years to come.”

Broncho fans will be pleased to see the new renovations at Wantland Stadium when they head to the field on game day. The football field received a new video display that measures approximately 35 feet high by 35 feet wide and incorporates a 15HD pixel layout.

This display demonstrates excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility while providing multiple levels of protection from the elements. It is capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. It can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.

Wantland Stadium will also be incorporating four scorer’s tables at their basketball arena that will each measure approximately 2 feet high by 9 feet wide and will feature a 10 millimeter line spacing. These displays will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information.

A Daktronics audio system, which will be integrated with the video and scoring system, was also added to the stadium. The system provides full-range sound reproduction and delivers clear and intelligible speech to provide a powerful audio experience for the fans. Daktronics audio offers high quality audio systems that can integrate with dynamic displays in indoor and outdoor sport venues.

In addition to the equipment installation, the University of Central Oklahoma also received a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Create Services, an award-winning in house creative team. This content will consist of any mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens and venue announcements at the request of the University of Central Oklahoma.

“Daktronics is very pleased to be a part of the installation at Wantland Stadium,” said Sales Representative Perry Grave. “The facelift at Wantland Stadium will in no doubt increase the game-day experience for the fans. These displays will also provide the Bronchos much more flexibility in the promotion of their sponsors and supporters.”
