SVG’s Women’s Sports Media Initiative Annual Meeting Draws Record Crowd

SVG’s Women’s Sports Media Initiative kicked off the SVG Summit with its annual meeting on Monday morning, drawing a record number of attendees to the Morgan Suite of the New York Hilton Hotel.  The standing-room-only crowd was treated to an entertaining and informative panel discussion featuring CBS Sports VP, Original Programming & Features Emilie Deutsch; ESPN Senior Coordinating Producer Amy Rosenfeld; NBC Olympics Coordinating Producer Rebecca Chatman; and Tupelo-Honey Raycom Executive Producer – Live Sports Production & Special ProgrammingJennifer Greechan.

The four accomplished producers covered a range of topics, including recent large-scale productions like the Sochi Olympics, World Cup, and Super Bowl; CBS Sports’ new all-female talk show; their individual production processes and workflows; and their thoughts on balancing emerging technology with great storytelling.  The panel also featured an inspiring and candid discussion on how they balance work and family responsibilities, the current state of female producers in the industry, and how to get more women excited about sports production.

SVG’s Women’s Sports Media Initiative is a networking group that aims to enhance the role of women in the creation, production, and distribution of sports content. WSMI members work for sports leagues, teams, television networks, technology companies, and start-ups where their focus is the business and technology behind sports production. SVG sponsors WSMI meetings, lunch-and-learns, and speaker events on a quarterly basis nationwide, where members are invited to listen, learn, exchange ideas and best practices, and meet other women in the industry.
