Ikegami Connects Campuses of Atlanta’s North Point Ministries

When a house of worship expands into multiple campuses, keeping the attendees close can be a challenge. North Point Ministries in Atlanta has overcome that hurdle with advanced video production, selecting the lifelike imagery of Ikegami HDK-95C Full Digital Portable CMOS camera systems and HDL-57 One-Piece Full Digital POV box-style CMOS cameras.

Ikegami_blueThe Ikegami cameras are the front end of a sophisticated infrastructure at North Point, which connects its five Atlanta metro area campuses via a fiber network. With content being acquired for live transmission between locations, online as well as TV broadcast, North Point knew that camera image performance was essential for a wide spread audience.

“In order to meet the requirements of multiple delivery channels, we really needed to start with the highest-quality video possible,” says Brendon Petty, Technical Director of North Point Ministries. “Our choice in Ikegami is long-term decision; a relationship that we hope will grow with us. We wanted to take it to the next level in our workflow and we found things we were able to do with Ikegami, we couldn’t do with any other camera.”

Petty and his team specified the precision imagery of CMOS technology, and saw that Ikegami’s HDK-95C and HDL-57 clearly stood out in a shootout. “Ikegami turned out to be the perfect package for us – they met all of our criteria,” Petty says. “We were looking for superb picture quality, next-generation CMOS sensors integrated with multiple HD formats, a knowledgeable support staff, interconnected control by multiple operators over an IP network, and features that serve a wide range of operator skill levels.”

Part of Ikegami’s Unicam HD line, the HDK-95C HD portable digital camera is equipped with Native multi-format 2.5 million pixel, 2/3 inch CMOS sensors. It also features an upgrade path to 24p and 3G formats, including 1080/60p and 4:4:4 24p.

The one-piece HDL-57 provides superb picture quality in a very small device with low power consumption. This POV camera model uses the same CMOS sensors and Ikegami digital processing for matching pictures with Unicam HD cameras, including the HDK-95C. Complete control is available utilizing the same network control system as the studio cameras.

North Point Ministries is producing a broadcast quality presentation every week, and delivering this to a number of different outlets. “I believe we have a very important message, and we don’t want the technology we use to be a distraction to our audience,” says Brendon Petty. “We strive to create a seamless experience where people are engaged. When it comes to cameras, we can achieve this with Ikegami.”
