AVPreserve Aims To Manage Media, Maximize Value for Sports Clients

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome AVPreserve as a corporate sponsor. Founded in 2006, AVPreserve is a consulting and software-development firm focused on leveraging a deep understanding of technology, data management, business, and people to maximize the usability of information to the benefit of organizations.

AVPreserveThe company’s team consists of internationally recognized experts with years of experience planning, designing, and implementing solutions. With offices in New York City and Madison, WI, AVPreserve works globally on media- and metadata-management projects, including digital-asset management, metadata modeling, taxonomy development, technology selection, and implementation, data migration, custom-software development, and more.

“AVPreserve made the decision to sponsor SVG because we see a need within sports organizations for the unique metadata expertise that we bring to the table,” says founder/President Christopher Lacinak. “Vendor- and manufacturer-agnostic, our goal in SVG is to help sports organizations more effectively manage their media and metadata to derive maximum value and create more-meaningful user experience and engagement.”

AVPreserve has worked with WWE since September 2014, supporting the WWE Network with a focus on design and implementation of an enterprise-wide metadata-management strategy. This effort has involved data and workflow analysis, strategic planning, metadata modeling, and taxonomy development, as well as close collaboration with staff members across WWE to establish metadata-governance policies and procedures. In addition, AVPreserve developed an API-centric application to support creation of an authoritative data set that will be leveraged across internal and external-facing environments.

The company also worked with the International Olympic Committee in support of developing a strategy and specifications for target-file formats created as a result of live capture and digitized legacy media. This work included conducting a survey focused on specifications and media-management–workflow practices within sports organizations in North America. All aspects related to file-format selection were analyzed, including bandwidth, storage, end-to-end workflows, systems, and signal paths.

For organizations with physical-media holdings, AVPreserve also offers a suite of consulting services and software focused on turning legacy-media collections into organizational assets. This includes planning and implementation of large-scale digitization efforts encompassing prioritization, budgeting, best practices, target-format specifications, storage specifications, vendor selection, quality control, and ingest.

Additional clients include MLBAM, HBO, Paramount Pictures, Library of Congress, Museum of Modern Art, and the FBI.
