Mischer’s presentation included a host of insights from one of the most accomplished live TV creators of all time and included a barrage of behind-the-scenes stories from iconic Mischer productions, including Muhammad Ali’s surprise Opening Ceremony torch lighting at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, Prince’s Super Bowl XLI halftime performance in 2007, the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, Tracy Morgan’s surprise return to the stage at this year’s Emmy Awards, and the time he was accidentally heard dropping an F-bomb live on air during the CNN’s 2004 Democratic National Convention coverage.

Mischer also argued that live television is still in a very good place and is the one thing that brings families together. He also believes social media is contributing to this success by creating must-see moments that result not only in worldwide social conversations, but also drive ratings.
