SVG Summit Technology Showcase Preview: What To Expect, Part 2

The 2015 SVG Summit is fast approaching and will host more than 75 industry-leading vendors exhibiting their latest gear for sports production. In the weeks leading up to the Summit, SVG will highlight the Technology Showcases that will be on display at the New York Hilton on Dec. 14 and 15.

AJT Systems
AJT Systems will conduct live demonstrations of its award-winning LiveBook GFX portable, easy-to-use, production-ready scorebug system. Preloaded with the company’s powerful Camino template-rendering software, this turnkey solution, deemed Best of Show at NAB 2015 by TV Technology, allows full user customization. Distinguishing features include an unparalleled user interface, separate preview, and program windows and a unique stats interface. The LiveBook GFX will be demonstrated with a variety of SportApps: Basketball with Statistics Plug-In, Soccer, and Football. Integration with the NewTek TriCaster via IP and the new NDI protocol will also be on display at Booth 63 in the Petit Trianon Room.

Clear-Com
Clear-Com will showcase FreeSpeak II, HelixNet 3.0, and LQ-R. The multiple-award-winning FreeSpeak II wireless intercom system allows production crews to communicate across a large production area on the 1.9 GHz and/or 2.4 GHz frequency band. Its distributed transceiver antennas enable seamless beltpack roaming within the coverage zone. The HelixNet 3.0 digital partyline system now offers 12 intercom channels per Main Station for greater capacity, expandability, and flexibility. The LQ-R is a new IP-interface device that links multiple intercom systems together and/or extends the capabilities and channels of a single system to one or more remote locations over an IP network.

Cobalt Digital
Cobalt Digital will demonstrate products that are space-efficient, easy-to-use, and improve performance:

  • 9970-QS openGear card, a five-split multiviewer with multiformat independent input support and advanced on-screen graphics. Also comes in a 1/3RU standalone version.
  • BBG-1078-ANC-MON standalone ancillary data monitor, an economical, easy-to-use tool that automatically probes closed captions, audio, SCTE104, specialized payloads, and selected DID/SDID and alerts operators when data is out of spec.
  • 9922-2FS dual-channel frame-sync card with audio/video processing, AES/analog audio embedding/de-embedding, CVBS I/O, and ancillary data support. Options include quality check, color correction, and keying.
  • BBG-1060TG2-REF1 desktop unit, a dual-channel test-signal generator with bouncing-box active signal indication, bi-level sync out, and embedded ANC data signal generator.

Comrex Corp.
Comrex’s LiveShot video-over-IP media-delivery system is capable of delivering live, two-way HD video and audio over a range of IP networks at latencies below 200 ms. Eurovision

Eurovision also offers next-generation services that deliver additional content, such as alternative camera angles and replays, to tablets and cellphones while the live event is in progress.

Focusrite
The Focusrite RedNet Range of Dante-based audio-over-IP devices provides recording-quality conversion and broadcast reliability in a high-channel-count, low-latency network workflow using standard Gigabit Ethernet switches. RedNet I/O is currently deployed by three major broadcast networks. Focusrite will exhibit four new RedNet units featuring power supply and network redundancy in a compact 1RU chassis. RedNet MP8R is an eight-channel mic preamp and has two sets of digital outputs for feeding different digital audio consoles with gain compensation on the second output. D16R features 16 AES I/O channels, D64R provides 64 channels of MADI I/O, and HD32R is a 32-channel Pro Tools bridge.

G-Technology
Whether for broadcasting, reviewing plays, or on the field, G-Technology’s Evolution Series offers a flexible ecosystem of bus-powered ruggedized drives, with options ranging from 7,200-rpm hard drives and high-performance SSDs to docking stations and accessories. Such products as the ultra-ruggedized and weatherproof G-DRIVE ev ATC to the G-SPEED Studio XL with ev Bay adapters combining up to 48 TB in a six-bay highly configurable (RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, JBOD) array with a Thunderbolt 2-enabled dock, allowing creation of an incredibly efficient and scalable digital workflow.

HGST

Hitachi
For more than 50 years, Hitachi broadcast-television cameras have demonstrated extraordinary value, outstanding image quality, rugged construction, and excellent customer support. This tradition continues with the SK-UHD4000 camera, the world’s first 4K/UHD camera to use standard ⅔-in. B4-mount lenses. The design of the SK-UHD4000 camera uses a four-port prism and four MOS sensors totaling more than 8.8 megapixels. This design produces a precision UHD picture while simultaneously generating a vastly improved HD output, with an 80% depth of modulation at 800 TVL. This design also helps maintain an affordable price. Hitachi will also show its new DK-H200 high-performance HD box camera, suitable for point-of-view and remote-acquisition applications. The DK-H200 provides the outstanding performance of the company’s SK Series cameras, with features and specifications similar to its best HD progressive-scan cameras.

JVCKENWOOD
Designed to enhance single-camera local sports coverage, the new GY-HM200SP 4KCAM camcorder produces a real-time score overlay on recorded or streamed video. It receives data wirelessly from mobile devices or directly interfaces with the venue scoreboard. The new GY-HM650SC ProHD camera, developed in partnership with XOS Digital, records time-of-day info (UTC) within the metadata to synchronize multiple cameras and biometric data collected by player-tracking devices. Its built-in streaming also makes video coaching workflows more efficient. And the JVC Private MESH video network, which works with the Silvus bidirectional radio system, is a wireless EFP solution for stadiums as well as for large-area outdoor events, like golf.

Live X
Live X will showcase Production Bot and vMix professional portable computer systems. Custom-built for video and editing applications, with rack-server–grade components and low-latency, broadcast-quality connectivity, Production Bots offer unprecedented power in a carry-on form factor. From Jumbotron/scoreboard/screen-feed display applications to real-time color grading, DIT, replay, and ENG/highlight-package editing, Production Bot has sports covered — without covering a lot of real estate. vMix software and hardware products help customers produce, record, and live-stream events in HD, SD, or 4K. The vMix GO and GO Plus solutions provide a powerful, low-latency solution in a portable system.

NURAY Digital
NURAY Digital will exhibit preservation solutions for film, tape, and audio archives, demonstrating how legacy content can be migrated, restored, and made digitally accessible. Featuring 2K and 4K film scans for 8- to 70-mm gauges, tape digitization for numerous formats, conversion of SD tape to 2K, frame-by-frame restoration, and storage and retrieval solutions, NURAY is able to address complex asset-management challenges. The company will feature NURAY Eloquence, a video-compression service that creates files roughly 75% smaller than the original while retaining broadcast quality. Proprietary object-based encoding finds objects in real-world scenes and distinguishes them from adjacent objects.

SES
SES will exhibit its new Ultra HD content-delivery solution. The live and linear end-to-end ecosystem delivers state-of-the-art UHD content to cable TV and broadband households, uniting the superior quality of service, scalability, and cost-efficiency of satellite with advances in IP-based content-delivery networks. The world-leading satellite operator, with a fleet of more than 50 geostationary satellites, provides communications services to broadcasters, content and Internet-service providers, mobile- and fixed-network operators, and business and governmental organizations worldwide

The Studio – B&H
Two main areas will be showcased by The Studio – B&H Technology. An integrated postproduction solution is centered on Avid’s new application-independent ISIS 1000 shared server and the Avid Artist DNxIO. That solution will be housed in a compact shock-mount case to demonstrate a high level of mobility. Also featured will be Sony’s award-winning BVMX300 4K HDR monitor, which plays back high-dynamic-range images from a Sony PMW-PZ1 4K SxS player. The properties of wide-color-gamut and extended-dynamic-range images will also be on display via a live feed from a Sony PMW-F55.

VITEC
VITEC’s IPTV solution, installed in multiple stadiums and venues around the globe, is the most deployed H.264 enterprise IPTV delivery system. It allows presenters to stream HD video and interactive signage in real time with video resolution up to 1080p and provide maximum brand engagement, featuring support for live playback and recording, real-time analytics, and a framework for video-confidence and -monitoring workflows. The format-agnostic IPTV system, based on VITEC’s award-winning EZ TV system, can be quickly and easily deployed in virtually all IT environments and will allow fans to watch content anywhere on any device.

Vizrt
The company’s new Viz Eclipse live–virtual-ad–replacement system, which was introduced at IBC2015, will have its U.S. debut. Vizrt will also demonstrate the Viz Trio character generator, the Viz Libero sports-analysis system, the Viz Arena live-virtual-sports-enhancement tool, the Viz Multiplay multiscreen– and video-wall–control system, and the Social TV solution.
