SVG, TVNewsday Launch NAB Now

The Sports Video Group and TVNewsday, the industry’s leading online news authorities for sports and local-TV broadcast professionals, announce the launch of NAB Now, an online editorial news service that draws on the editorial experience of both companies and will focus on the industry’s biggest event: the NAB convention to be held in Las Vegas April 19-23.

The collaborative effort, the first of its kind between the two companies, will provide the broadcast and production industry with the most extensive coverage of NAB news and developments before and during the show, including live reports from the show floor.

“The combined editorial forces of SVG and TVNewsday have more than 150 years of combined experience covering NAB and the issues that are most important to NAB attendees,” says SVG Editorial Director Ken Kerschbaumer. “NAB Now will give readers of SVG and TVNewsday the inside track on the hottest products, news, and developments before, during, and after the big show.”

Under the banner of NAB Now, breaking news will be delivered to the combined audiences of both organizations beginning this week and featured on both www.sportsvideo.org and www.tvnewsday.com. The collaboration begins this week with the first in a nine-part series that previews the latest technology trends at NAB and continues through the convention’s six-day run in Las Vegas with on-the-spot reports from the exhibit floor and conference rooms.

To pull it all off, TVNewsday and SVG are collectively assembling a staff of 10 reporters to cover new-product news and announcements, making it the largest and most experienced NAB editorial team in the industry.

The team will be led by TVNewsday Editor Harry A. Jessell and SVG’s Kerschbaumer.

“We’re going to amp up the scope and the urgency of reporting from NAB to a level it hasn’t seen in 20 years,” says Jessell. “Readers of TVNewsday.com and Sportsvideo.org across the nation will be able to follow all the action from their desktops, laptops, and PDAs. What happens in Vegas will not stay in Vegas.”

The Sports Video Group was formed in 2006 to support the professional community that relies on video, audio, and broadband technologies to produce and distribute sports content. Leagues, owners, teams, players, broadcasters, Webcasters, and consumer-technology providers have joined the SVG to learn from each other, turn vision into reality, implement new innovations, while sharing experiences that will lead to advances in sports production/distribution and the overall consumer sports experience.

TVNewsday is the leading source of industry news for broadcast-television executives and managers. Launched in 2006, TVNewsday LLC operates TVNewsday.com, a continuously updated news Website with more than 32,000 registered readers. The company also publishes daily e-newsletters TVNewsday AM and TVNewsday PM and Tech Thursday, a newsweekly for broadcast TV engineers.
