Executive Producer – Soccer United Marketing and Major League Soccer

Multiple Emmy award winner Michael Cohen is one of the most respected and creative executives and producers in sports television today. After holding staff positions at ESPN and ABC, working on the broadcast of 8 Olympic Games for three networks and serving as President of Bizzy Signals Entertainment, Michael has dedicated the last 14 years to enhancing the broadcast presentation of soccer on television in the United States.

As the Executive Producer of Soccer United Marketing’s network and cable coverage of the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup, 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the United States men’s and women’s national soccer teams, and Major League Soccer, Cohen’s work over the past decade has helped increase the value of soccer and has expanded the audience and its appetite for soccer in this country.  His work has also helped change the perception of soccer in the United States, and launched new relationships for soccer in the marketing, entertainment and broadcast fields.

Cohen developed and designed a television plan in association with the MLS Business Development Committee to produce every available regional game for air in the local markets and nationally on DirecTV and MLSnet.com. The plan also included requirements for minimum standards. The plan’s success has resulted in over 650 MLS broadcasts since 2007 and has aided in the advancement of MLS in the media. Additional programming Cohen has initiated or been instrumental in creating include Disney’s Jetix Kids Cup, David Beckham Soccer USA show, Nickelodeon MLS Plays of the Week and Sueno MLS reality series for Univision’s Republica Deportiva.
