SMPTE Education Introduces Pilot IP Networking Boot Camp With Emphasis on SMPTE ST 2110

SMPTE has introduced a pilot IP networking boot camp. This series will feature three separate courses culminating in a final exam. These courses will feature the latest SMPTE ST 2110 advancements, updates, and standards. This program has limited space and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Two of the courses within this intensive boot camp are brand new, and the third is an updated version of an existing SMPTE course. Once participants take all three courses and pass a final examination, they will become certified in IP networking with a focus on SMPTE ST 2110. The first new course, “Introduction to IP Networking,” covers all the basics needed for a solid foundation in IP networking.

The second new course, “Designing an IP Network,” provides a comprehensive overview of the elements, systems, and devices in a fully IP facility environment. It covers the entire IP media supply chain, from creation to end user from a business and technical perspective.

The last course, the updated “Understanding ST 2110” course, provides critical knowledge of how SMPTE ST 2110 can be used to create media production or delivery systems within IP networks. It covers the skills needed to leverage ST 2110 and media over IP. This class is a $1,350 value but is being made available for $900 as a special pilot price until June 28.

The duration of each course is three weeks. Each will feature three live instructor sessions per week during the first and second weeks, followed by a study period with instructor support and interactive sessions in the third week. Study groups and discussion forums will be running throughout the duration of this boot camp. Practice exams and sample questions will be included after each individual course. A comprehensive syllabus for the boot camp is available upon request.

The final week of the boot camp will include three interactive sessions with some of the topmost industry experts, who will bring real-world cases and problems to solve, adding a practical element to the boot camp. Following these sessions, participants will have one week to complete their final exam, which provides them with an opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired skills and knowledge in a comprehensive assessment.
